European Handball Comes to the Sports Center!

What is European Handball? It is a team Sport consisting of two teams of four each (3 players and a goalie) where the teams objective is to carry the ball up field to the opposing teams net and shoot or bounce the ball past the opposing goalie.

European Handball Tournament on August 26th & September 2nd for High Schoolers, 9-12 Grades (Middle School Kids are eligible to play with parental consent)
-$100 per team if paid before August 1st, for a double elimination Tournament ($120 if after date) - 4v4 on the turf (1 goalie and 3 fielders, subs are allowed and encouraged) -No entries accepted at the door -Two 15 minute running halves (If tie game occurs it will become a 3 minute overtime, and then 4 person shootout)
European Handball Rules
- 4 meter line- goalie cannot pass on a 7-meter penalty shot
- 6 meter line- no offensive or defensive player may cross the line, this marks the area of the goaltender
- 7 meter line- penalty shots are taken here, the offense is not allowed to pass this line however they are allowed to jump into the other zones while taking a shot on goal. Defense is allowed to go in between the 7-meter line and 6-meter line to defend a shot.
- A jump ball will be used to start off every game and after every goal at the red line
- The ball cannot be kicked into the net, result will be a free throw from the opposing yellow line.
- Player cannot stand still with the ball for more than three seconds and has a maximum of 3 steps before having to pass the ball or shoot on net.
- Substitutions occur on dead balls (fouls, goals, or injuries)
Fouls will be called for holding the ball for excessive amounts of time, hitting or pushing. Hitting and pushing will result in a penalty shot for the other team. Holding the ball too long will result in a free throw from the opposing yellow.
