Grant Stanis is the owner of the facility. He is a Level 1 USATF Certified Trainer. He will be attending the Level 2 Certification in Endurance training. He is also the Head Cross Country Coach for Team Sports Center. In the 3 years he has coached Team Sports Center 100% of his runners have peaked in the last two weeks of the Cross Country season. He also stresses race strategy in his coaching.
His training methods are unique amongst his coaching peers on the youth/HS level. He is a advocate for low mileage and more speed, interval and CORE work. His belief is that most young runners burn out or are slowed by foot, knee and hip problems later in life from being over mileaged. He is not in favor of middle school runners moving up to the HS level. He strongly believes It's a formula for the failure of young runners to be exposed to the workouts performed by HS athletes before the body has matured.
The Team Sports Center Running program is the fastest growing youth distance program on Long Island. Come join the long list of young runners currently dominating the sport on their level.
Remember, there hasn't been a scholarship given to an athlete based on what they ran in 8th grade.
Grant Ran a 4:19 mile in High School and a 3:54 1500m in College.
